Month End Snapshots - October 2013

Rolly Polly Bugs! (Pill Bugs)

On this day we threw some leaves into the creek and followed them as they floated down stream. There are no salmon yet, but we hope to see some soon!

We read The Great Big Enormous Turnip and then tried some real turnip...yummy!

On our forest walk we found these three mushrooms. We didn't know that slugs like to eat mushrooms. The following three pictures were taken of the same mushrooms over the next three weeks. We observed that they grew and then started to look old. One even disappeared!

Thanks for stomping by!

  1. Ah... Dianne and Gaie! Another great raft of photos depicting the children experimenting with natural objects in nature. You've provided everything to set their imagination's to "go". I wonder what you have got for them in the second to last photo? Certainly provides the child who is geared for 'fitting things together" a great space for creating a 'masterpiece'. I also love the photo of Dianne....waiting patiently for her little stompers to arrive. Gorgeous colours throughout! Gaie...the photos really do inspire!

    1. Thank-you, so much, Suzi! Love to hear from you and so glad you are getting some ideas for your time with your Grand-babies. The picture you mentioned is of marble tiles. I went to a local tile store and asked if they had any throw-aways...they had lots. They are new to the children at Stomping, and we are looking forward to seeing the designs and imagination emerge from playing with them. Stay tuned...we are busy, busy!
