Our Forest Walk...With Lots Of Running!

Let's face it, when you're a preschooler, it wouldn't be a walk in the forest with out lots of running! So, to give the children the freedom to release their running energy I had earlier placed little piles of saw dust along the path as markers for the children to watch for. I explained that the saw dust piles were a signal to stop, and to wait for everyone to catch up.

We found it....

Onto the next stopping spot

At this stop, I showed the children the sign for stop.

Over the bridge.

Up the hill.

We found another pile.

We love to run up and down the hill.

Looking for our resident ducks.

Watching the tree cones float down the river.

Can you see them ?

Lots of sticks to find along the way.

You will notice that the children are quite spread out on our walk,
but I know that they will be waiting at the next saw dust pile.

Nothing like a good stick.

The end of our forest walk and another beautiful day.
Thanks for stopping by............

  1. What a smart idea! Keeping the kids in charge of themselves, so to speak! Brilliant! Love the photos to Dianne!

  2. Love this idea, when I take my class out on woodland visits, I think running ahead to a predesignated stopping point is one of their favourite parts. Kierna

    1. Thanks Kierna, the saw dust piles work so well. We did it with our under 3 year old group today and they loved it too.
